Jazz and Blues Band:

RHYTHM WEAVE:

Summerland has incredible options to work their material up from. At any one time the three piece rhythm section can layer a groove that may have the bass holding the main count while the rhythm guitar plays a horn line. This allows the percussion to extend the basic groove beneath the rhythm layer. It is this virtual rhythm weave that generates the excitement for the lead instruments and vocals - a complete layer that provokes improvisation and mood.

Doug "Snoup" Marsden

Snoup is our anchor man in the rhythm section; he has been behind a kit for most of his life having come up through the old Woombye Blues Club ranks all those years ago.

Snoup's style is very clean, he sits extremely comfortably with Mr T and JD - he virtually slipped into the rhythm section instantly. The engine room of the Summerland Band has incredible options open to them as the three instruments allow for layering of the groove; the exact method that all the very old time Blues Masters used in their larger outfits.

Snoop has managed to master this style of rhythm and is revelling in it; we're still trying to get his vocal chords working though!
